'You can't be an eyewitness if I cut out your eyes...'
Someone's preying on Aberdeen's growing Polish population. The pattern is always the same: men abandoned on building sites, barely alive, their eyes gouged out and the sockets burned.
The sarcastic DCI Finnie is running the investigation, and he's decided to make Detective Sergeant Logan McRae's life hell. With the victims too scared to talk, and the only witness a paedophile who's on the run, the investigation is going nowhere fast. But the attacks are brutal, and the threatening letters arriving at Force Headquarters make it clear they're not going to stop.
The Granite City is on the brink of gang warfare; the investigating team are dogged by allegations of corruption; and Finnie's one-man crusade is about to bring Logan to the attention of Aberdeen's most notorious crime lord.
Who said summer would be easy?
BLIND EYE is the fifth book in the Logan McRae / Cold Granite series. The whole thing came about because I was starting to hear some fairly ludicrous rumours about Aberdeen's local Polish community.
"Oh, if you go into a pub, and it's run by them Polish blokes, you won't get served if you're a local..."
"See them Polish shops? Buggers won't sell you stuff if you're no' Polish..." Etc.
What a load of old wank. Why the hell do you think the Polish people came over here? To earn money. Do you really think they're going to turn down good cash, just because it comes from an Aberdonian? Grow up! And in the end it annoyed me enough that I ended up taking the story to its illogical extreme...
